Entrepix Hires Mello, Adds SEZ Capabilities

Staff -- Semiconductor International, 1/10/2008 9:14:00 AM

Jim Mello, Entrepix vice president of business development
Entrepix Inc. (Tempe, Ariz.) said it will add surface conditioning services, based on SEZ technology, as a complement to its portfolio of chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) outsourcing capabilities.

The former vice president of sales and marketing at SEZ America, Jim Mello, has joined Entrepix as vice president of business development, focusing on the SEZ surface conditioning services and other new business opportunities. Mello earlier worked at Motorola Inc.’s semiconductor fabs before joining SEZ America 12 years ago.

“Jim’s experience will be a major asset as the company positions itself for significant growth following the recent signing of agreements with four large industry OEMs,” said Tim Tobin, Entrepix CEO.

Robert Rhoades, chief technology officer at Entrepix, said Entrepix plans to entwine the capabilities of CMP for planarization and surface polish and SEZ’s ability to apply various types of chemistries in the surface conditioning steps. “CMP and wet chemical processing have been both competitive and complementary technologies over the years,” he said. "Most state-of-the-art CMP systems have integrated cleans built in, so this is where the marriage begins, but is far from where it ends.”

The new systems support all wafer sizes, including 300 mm.
